Kevin Maijala

Senior Vice President of Education & Interpretation

Kevin Maijala has served in many capacities across more than two decades of service at the Minnesota Historical Society. His proven track record of leading institutional change, program development, and building high-functioning teams led him to his current role as Senior Vice President of Education & Interpretation and the Josephine (Nicky) Benz Carpenter Chair for Education. 

Throughout his career, Kevin has developed programming and exhibits at MNHS sites and museums across the state. He led the development of the Northern Lights curriculum for Minnesota sixth graders. In recent years, he has been a strong part of advocacy as well as creating high quality curriculum for K-12 teacher education programs. 

Prior to joining MNHS, Kevin served as the outreach manager for the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation. He holds a B.A. from the University of Minnesota and an M.A. in Museum Studies from Hampton University.
