Gov JAO Preus

St. Paul Minn.
Dear Sir:
Among those convicted for taking part in the rioting which resulted in hanging three negroes in this city last June was Gilbert H. Stephenson, who is now serving time.
It seems there is a good chance that said Stephenson is not the guilty party. Reliable witnesses among them Police Sergeant Rickett are of the opinion it is a case of mistaken identity.
I hople your excellency will bring this matter before the pardoning board as speedily as possible, to the end that if an injustice has been done
