My dear Mr. Whittier:
I have your letter of May 19th, and the one enclosed from Gilbert H. Stephenson. He called here yesterday and I saw Kersten. Kersten admitted that they had threatened each other and claimed that it was all on account of a woman whom they had both been keeping company with. Kersten said he simply said to leave the woman alone or there would be more trouble so I saw Stephenson this morning and told him what I had learned. He denied there was a woman implicated.
I told Stephenson if Kersten ever molested him again to be sure and have witnesses and we could then take steps to have him arrested.
