WEST DULUTH, MINN., August 23, 1921 191

Mr. J. J. Sullivan, Warden
Stillwater, Minnesota
Box 55.

Dear Sir:

I have known Lois Dondino, who was sent to the State Penitentiary from St. Louis County in connection with the riot at the time of the Negro Lynchings at Duluth, since December, 1918.
Have always found him to be a respectable and decent young man in my dealings with him and during the time he occupied rooms in our building here just prior to his getting into trouble, we never heard of any complaints as to his habits and general character.
I feel that he allowed himself to be coerced into the affair which caused his conviction, in a moment of weakness, as he was not the sort to be looking for trouble.
I believe that if he were let out on parole, you would never need to worry about his future behavior.

Yours very truly,
J. A. Barnes
