TWO HARBORS, Minn. (July 15, 2023) – Split Rock Lighthouse invites the North Shore community and history lovers everywhere to celebrate the landmark’s 114th birthday at the Keeper’s View event on July 26 from 6:30 pm–10 pm.

The annual event commemorates the first lighting of the lighthouse’s beacon which took place on July 31, 1910. This year, the event will focus on the historic dangers and hazards of the region and how keepers faced these challenges. It will feature fascinating stories, food, and a rare opportunity to see a lighthouse beacon lighting.

Throughout the evening, guests can join a 20-minute guided tour to learn more about how keepers and their families lived during the lighthouse’s early history. Visitors can also watch the 13-minute film, “The Story of Split Rock Lighthouse.”

The lighthouse beacon will be lit at 9 pm, and guests will have exclusive access to the lighthouse after it is lit. Guests are encouraged to dress for the weather, bring a headlamp, bug spray, and folding chairs.
