Minnesota Historical Society's Northern Lights Interactive eBook Privacy Policy

The Minnesota Historical Society (the “Company”) is committed to maintaining robust privacy protections for its users. Our Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) is designed to help users understand how we collect, use and safeguard the information you provide to us and to assist you in making informed decisions when using our Service. For purposes of this Agreement, “Service” refers to the Company’s service, which can be accessed via our website (nl.mnhs.org) or our “mnhs education” iPad app through which users access the Northern Lights Interactive eBook for 6th grade Minnesota Studies and its related content. The terms “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Company. “You” refers to you, as a user of Service.

I. Information we collect

The Company does not collect Personal Information about Service users. The Non-Personal Information collected by the Service cannot be used to personally identify users and includes anonymous usage data, platform, browser, and device type used to connect to the Service.

II. Cookies

The Company uses session cookies, which include an anonymous unique identifier, to deliver content to the Service. This type of cookie expires when users close their web browser. They are not used to track users or collect their data. The Company uses a persistent cookie, which remains stored on a user’s device longer than a session cookie, to keep users logged into the Service.

If your browser is set so that it does not accept cookies, the Service will not function properly.

III. Student privacy notice

All students in a given school/district use the same login, so the Company is not collecting individual students’ personal information through individual user accounts or logins. Therefore, the Company does not collect, use, or disclose student personal information.

As part of the Service, the Company may provide links to or compatibility with other websites or applications. However, we are not responsible for the privacy practices employed by those websites or the information or content they contain. This Privacy Policy applies solely to the Service. Therefore, this Privacy Policy does not apply to your use of a third party website accessed by selecting a link on our Service. To the extent that you access or use the Service through or on another website or application, then the privacy policy of that other website or application will apply to your access or use of that website or application. We encourage our users to read the privacy statements of other websites before proceeding to use them.

V. Changes to our privacy policy
