What to See and Do
Explore the grounds of Harkin Store, an authentic 1870s-era general store.
In the 1870s, the Harkin Store was the social center of the West Newton community, where townsfolk and farmers gathered to buy groceries, barter for supplies, exchange news, and discuss the topics of the day.
Take a self-guided tour outside the store and attached home and see the way the site looked in the 1870s. While the store building is currently closed, the grounds are open daily from dawn until dusk. Interpretive signage coming soon.
