Directions and Parking

Special events will take place at the historic site on the north side of the closed historic bridge. To get to the site, please approach from the north by taking County Road 11 or 201st St. from Hwy 16 or 206th St. from County Road 5. Park along the road north of the mailbox. Required parking permits for Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park can be purchased online.

Historic Forestville is located inside Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park. Do not rely on online maps or GPS when visiting Historic Forestville, the state park, or Mystery Cave, because they may send you to a closed bridge!  

Directions

From the west: 

From Spring Valley follow US Hwy 16 seven miles, turn right on 201st Street (gravel from here to site), turn left on 212th Street, turn right on CR #118, follow the road to the site (at the closed bridge).

From the east:

From Preston follow US Hwy 16 three miles, turn left on CR #11 (gravel from here to site), turn right on Kestral Road/CR #118, follow CR #118 to the left at the fork, follow the road to the site (at the closed bridge).

From Mystery Cave to Historic Forestville: 

From the site on CR #118 1.5 miles, turn left on 212th Street, turn left on 201st Street, turn right on 206th Street, turn left on CR #5 (pavement), turn on 180th Street/Old Cave Road (gravel from here to cave) for two miles.
