Dear Sir
In reply to your letter in regards to Mr. Gilbert H. Stephenson will state that I have known Mr. Stephenson for many years and all his relations and vouch there is not a blemish in the whole family. I have always found Mr. H. Stephenson to be a gentleman both in good habits and honesty and a very quiet man and I have as yet to hear an (sic) bad word said against him or his character in any way ever.

He is a man of few words muted as to be very quiet and a man that chooses to be at home rather than running the streets. I have found him to be as good a man as there could be in all respects good habits and good in general and I have all reasons to know he is a good quiet and honest he also had been brought up by good and honest parents an I found that I cannot say enough for Mr. Gilbert H. Stephenson.
Yours Truly
