Mr J J Sullivan

As I have had a little trouble I am writing to you what to do in this case. There’s a man here in Duluth named Kerstav that I had trouble with before I came down to Stillwater the trouble started over the war, then he is the one that was the caus (sic) of having me arested (sic) and told them at the court house

that I was mixed up in the lynching, and when it cam time fore (sic) him to go on the stand he told them he could not do it. Then last Saturday I was sick and went home at noon and he came along about one o’clock and hung around the house all after noon calling me names, and said that he would kin me. He has a knife with a extra long blade an will pull it out

and stand stabing (sic) it in the side of the house. He called me a S. of A. B. a dozen times and said he would lay fore (sic) me and rip me open with that knife and that He was not through with me yet. All this I have four witnesses of that was here in the house when He said this stuff. Please let me know what to do about this as I don’t

care about having any trouble with this man but don’t like to have him follow me on the street when ever I go out any place.
