Mr. Louis Villaume, Sr.
172 Prospect Terrace
Saint Paul, Minnesota

Dear Mr. Villaume:

I have your letter with reference to one Maxie Mason, a Frenchman, who you state was sent up from Ramsey county for the crime of Murder. In reply thereto, I wish to state that a search of our records has failed to disclose that we have or had an inmate here by this name, who would answer to the description you gave.
We did, however, in 1921 receive one Max Mason – our #6785, a Negro, from St. Louis County for the crime of Rape with a sentence of 7 – 30 years. He was discharged by action of the Parole Board on September 3rd, 1925.
If the Max Mason you have reference to is not our #6785, I would be glad to hear from you again with any other information you may have which would help us in identifying this man.
With kindest personal regards to yourself and family, I am

Yours very truly,

Warden
