Max Mason 6785 August 8, 1921



Convicted of rape. Was one of the negroes implicated in the ravishing of a girl in Duluth which resulted in the lynching of two of them and the riot which occurred in Duluth


William Miller, Louis Hayes, Frank Spicer, Clarence Green, L. Williams and Nate Gray.

Served 30 days on Workfarm at Louisville, Ky. Letters received cover his time will and speak will of him. Indicate that he has been steadily employed, was well considered by those who knew him.

Single. Parents dead. One brother and two sisters living in
Alabama.

First grade.
Conduct and disposition uniformly good.


General health good.

Application denied by Board of Parole at September meeting. This man claims is innocent and says he doubts if any crime was ever committed. Pas record has been fairly good. Bases his application for release on the fact that he is not guilty. Have no recommendations to make.
