About This Event

Join us at the Historic Fort Snelling Visitor Center for a cup of coffee and a presentation discussing how and why the fort was built here at the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers.

We’ll cover the challenges faced by the army as they built the first major post in the region that would become Minnesota. We’ll also discuss the role that Fort Snelling played in the lives of the Native Americans of the region.

Program presented indoors at the Historic Fort Snelling Plank Visitor Center and is included in regular admission. This is part of a series of chats: click here to see topics for all three program dates. Admission includes the Many Voices, Many Stories, One Place exhibit and more.
