Marbles & Mischief Greeters

Start Date: May 26th, 2023
While the cat's away, the mice will play!

Have you ever shirked your chores and played games instead? Rediscover this universal experience through the eyes of the Lindbergh family.

Marbles & Mischief Volunteers serve as greeters - welcoming visitors and helping with navigation. Along the way, they share our 19th century outdoor laundry station. They also invite visitors to join in on some childhood mischief - like playing marbles and graces. Sound like fun? Apply today!

Service Summary:
In this outdoor opportunity, volunteers serve as greeters and guides. Marbles & Mischief Volunteers are expected to make visitors feel welcome, answer questions about the site, and provide navigation assistance. These volunteers are responsible for facilitating a safe and fun experience for visitors - especially during demonstrations.

Volunteers help guests understand the skills and time required to do laundry in Lindbergh’s childhood. At the demonstration station, volunteers and visitors (usually family groups) wash laundry and hang the items up to dry using a wash and rinse basin, scrub board, wringer, and clothes line.
Marbles & Mischief Volunteers also show visitors how to play two games that were popular during Lindbergh’s childhood - marbles and grace. Volunteers are expected to demonstrate and participate in game play as needed.
